A video message about the policy of ethnic hatred and discrimination against Azerbaijanis by Armenia was broadcast at the session of the UN Human Rights Council

Video message of Ramil Iskandarli, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, Chairman of “Legal Analysis and Research” Public Union the Special Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC. Ramil Iskandarli during the debates at the Plenary Session dedicated to the discussion of cases of racial discrimination in the world at the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Ramil Iskandarli, referring to the fact that Azerbaijanis are subjected to ethnic discrimination by Armenia, noted the following:

-“I would like to draw your attention to a deeply concerning issue that threatens the fundamental principles of equality and human dignity that this assembly is committed to upholding: the ongoing racism and xenophobia directed toward Azerbaijanis in Armenia.

For decades, Azerbaijanis have been subjected to discrimination, hatred, and violence based solely on their ethnic identity. Azerbaijanis used to be the largest ethnic minority in Armenia. Currently there are no Azerbaijanis left in the territory of Armenia.

Xenophobia not only harms individuals but also sows seeds of mistrust and animosity between our peoples, hindering efforts for peace and reconciliation in the region. We must stand united against all forms of discrimination, regardless of its origin, and strive to build bridges of understanding and cooperation.

Together, let us reaffirm our shared values of tolerance, inclusivity, and justice, so that future generations may live free from the shadows of hatred and division.”
